Kayaking

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

Grace and I went kayaking around the next island over, Dent Island. It was a pretty good time, but we both ended up getting a little bit sunburnt. I had never been in a two person kayak, it is quite a bit different than being in a canoe.

We left Hamilton Island and paddled up around the north end of Dent Island to a beach and had these bacon and mustard rolls they were actually really good. The waves were getting bigger and the second beach we went to just about swamped us. Our guide did get flipped in; it was pretty funny. My stomach and back were killing me not to mention my legs. Kayaking is harder than it looks.

Reef world

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Here is the official website of where I work everyday. I don’t actually work for Fantasea as the scuba is contracted out to the shop I work for.

http://www.fantasea.com.au/page/reefworld/

It is a huge pontoon boat that is permanently anchored at the reef. We take another boat in and out from it everyday.

I teach mostly discover scuba classes or I lead dives with already certified divers. Its been fun so far.
I have stayed out here overnight four times so far and that’s a really great experience as well.

I have some pictures of the pontoon and various things, the boat ride, sunset/sunrise, etc…

hope you all enjoy.
