Dentist days are over…

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Finished up with my insane amount of dental work. I am certain that it was worth every penny. I will post before and after photos best I can.
It took almost two months to get it done but 5 temporary crowns, and two bridges later…. Tah Dah!!! My mouth looks better than it has in more than 12 years.

Thanks to my dentist and connie, you guys made it work.

Mardi Gras in Deadwood

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

My ski weekend just so happened to fall on mardi gras in deadwood!!!

Mom has been before and said it was a pretty good time. We got there friday about noon and checked into the hotel, we were staying at cadilac jacks. Our room was ready so we took everything upstairs and changed to go skiing. The snow was good and the company was great but the facilities at Mystic Miner are in dire straits…

Afterwards my mom called and she was in town, so we met up and had dinner before the parade.

If you are thinking about going to Deadwood for Mardi Gras, SKIP FRIDAY’S PARADE!!! it was five minutes tops and only like 6 floats, maybe… It was very anticlimactic…

Saturday was great on the other hand. Grace decided she wanted to see Mt Rushmore as we were so close, so we got up early and drove down. It was nice in the winter i dont think i have ever been this time of year, plus it was fun to see it with someone who hadnt. Afterwards on our way to go skiing again I broke the temporary crown on my front tooth. Not nice… it hurts when i breath in through my mouth and cold drinks are suicide!!!

So I tried to find a dentist in deadwood, impossible!!!

said the heck with it, i will be alright. Good news is now that we wernt skiing we could make it to the casinos for the cajun food cookoff. We went to all of them and tried the different food. Some of it was really really good, and some was terrible. Several places didnt even seem like they were trying. I never did hear who won, but i hope it was the gold dust.

The parade was at 7pm on saturday, and it was alot of fun. Ten times the one on friday. Lots of floats, people in costume, and more beads than you can safely wear… ha

The people on the streets were just as fun to watch as well, there were lots in costumes and everyone was having a good time. I had on a mask and lots of beads it was fun.

Afterwards we went for the seafood buffet and then back to the hotel to use the pool and hot tub.

Great day even with a few mishaps.

Mount Rushmore!!!

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

Grace was looking at the tourist brochures at the hotel and asked how far away this was and i told her about an hour, so she asked if we could go? Of course so we planed to skip the morning skiing and drive down to see the heads.

The drive down was beautiful, there was a light snow friday night so everything was clean and white, while it was sunny and the road was clear. Perfect.

We got to the heads and there were only maybe 6 other people there, big change from the summer when you cant find a chance to take a picture without someone in the way. The gift shop was still open and Grace took full advantage of that… I think we were in there longer than we were outside looking at the monument!!! The musem and info center were all open for us few winter straglers…

It was great we got some nice pictures and had fun.

Going back to finish the ski day.
