It was a busy last couple days, after some delayed flights I didn’t get to Rapid City till almost midnight. Mom and Erin were there to pick me up, arriving somewhere with people waiting for you is much better than showing up alone. I drove us to moms and we got there about 2am. I went strait to bed, in MY BED!!! It was fantastic even if it was only for four hours. Got up early went out to the shed and packed up some work stuff in case I go to work. Also grabbed my hockey bag in case I don’t. Packed all my stuff into moms van, and Erin and I got into the car and headed north. It was a lot of fun road tripping with my little sister. It had been a long time, we even went in circles for a bit… lol Met up with mom in Montana and Tessa hopped in with us. It was great with all three of us kids together. We stopped at Ft Peck to take some photos and check out the dam. Went to Grandma Pats to see her before going to the Cottonwood to meet up with all the Whitlows!!! Oh yeah I got a haircut and beard trim as well…
Friday night we had dinner at the church and went through the service with pastor Jay. It was great to have everyone together but the reason for it makes my heart ache. Saturday morning everyone met at the church and the service was so good. I couldn’t help the tears that streamed down my face when Amy tried to sing and couldn’t sneak the words out around the sobs. It was hard for everyone and it amazes me how well my grandparents were loved by so many non family members. Same as at grandpas service, so many people had heart wrenching and inspiring stories to tell. I just hope that when my time is up that half that many people have good things to say about me.
We all agreed to meet at Four Buttes before heading out to the farm as it had rained a lot the last few days. We all piled into a few pickups, some of us more adventurous types road in the back. We took grandma up on the bluff, said a prayer and spread her ashes. It was almost perfect, the sun came out and there were butterflies following us around.
Thank you to all of you for your condolences and well wishes!!! Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.

Goodbye Grandma
Saturday, June 12th, 2010Goodbye Roatan
Thursday, June 10th, 2010I am all packed up and ready for my flight. I am going to be back in the states 6 hours from now. It took me almost 4 months to get down here and its taking less than a day to go the 3000+ miles back. I am very much looking forward to seeing my family tomorrow even if it is for such a sad event. I have many things that I would like to do while home. I should be able to blog regularly as the internet should be better there, but I might have less to say as things at home are usually not as exciting as on the road.
I will let you all know how things are going and what my plans are for the next few weeks. Hope all is well with you and yours!!!

kayaking to diamond rock
Saturday, June 5th, 2010Decided I wasn’t just going to sit in the air con this weekend watching movies on my computer. Called up Ian and sean and asked if they wanted to go kayaking. They did as well as Tom the Open water student I just finished up. So about noon we all got down to the dock and got out four kayaks and started paddling eastwards. There was a pretty strong wind in our face and if you stopped paddling you would stop then go backwards.
