Got back from Tulum and we had been diving on base, and there was diving every day this week.  It was great, everyone has begun monitoring the coral and fish.  It is nice to finally be contributing data to the project.  I think alot of us were beginging to feel that we really wernt doing anything substantial here.  Two dives a day everyday are great, I had back to back dives first thing in the morning every time and that left me the afternoon to lie on the beach and read or work radio.  This has been one of the better weeks so far. Thursday the TEFL people came to town like normal and there was Carnivale in Mahahaul, so a bunch of us got a cab and came into town for it. We had dinner and then went to watch, the first hour and a half was pretty boring as it was the crowning the king,queen, and the prince and princess´s.  After that there was some dance competition and then the band started playing. We all were dancing for a few hours it was a great time.  My feet are killing me, the dance was on a rough surface and I wasnt wearing shoes.  Back on base Friday was supposed to be a fun dive but the weather was bad and we just had a lazy day.  I was really bored and it reminded me why I leave when the weather turns. Party night was rather tame, after dinner people just sat around talking so I went to bed.  Still overall it was a great week.
